Tuesday should be the new Monday

Edit’s on the first short story are coming along nicely. I did a pile of edits and listened back to the story, I think it works, just need to spruce the paint up. Also if anyone reading this needs a decent way to hear your writing back, you can open PDF’s and use the read aloud feature to record your writing. It’s by no means perfect, really it’s not the best tool at all for this job but it works and the voice is decent enough that I don’t want to walk into traffic when I walk and listen to it.

Sunday night was the first episode of The Last of Us season 2 on HBO. I was a fan of it. Last season some of the best stuff in my humble opinion was where Craig Mazin and Neil Druckman swayed from the video game slightly or built upon little moments that made the game special. They continue to do this in the first episode and it’s great. Another great part was how they are building upon this idea that the first season and the games had, where Joel’s consequences of his sometimes arguably good choices have you guessed it, consequences. It’s a nice way to give Pedro more screen time as Joel which players of the game will understand. All in all I was very pleased with the first episode and am anticipating more of it.

In other news Charlie Brooker is still a great writer and creator. The first episode of the new Black Mirror season while somewhat predictable had just an amazing pacing and execution to it. If your paying attention you can see what’s coming from the very start, and the horror builds right in plain sight.
