What makes a great book to movie adaption?

This week I have not been working on writing or book work too much, but hoping to put some miles onto it over the weekend. I did read some Stephan King shorts/novellas and watched one of his adaptions.
To answer the titles question, I actually don't think you can answer that without pissing someone off. It's simple every adaption of a book comes with it's own challenges. Some of those are large, some are fun to work out, and some are just down right hard to adapt. I watched 'The Monkey' which is based on a king short story which I have admittedly never read, but I watched this movie going in with the premise that I guess the short did; a toy monkey kills people and haunts a family. Okay sold, that sounds like a bloody great time and it was. It worked as well as it did because it played tongue and cheque into the ridiculousness of it, while also doing it with the straightest face imaginable. A fantastic film.
Well that's it for this week. It's been busy; just unfortunately not on book work. Peace and love folks, be kind to each other.
